From Marianna Police Department
Arrestee: John Paul Lipford, white male, 27 years old, Marianna, Florida
Charges: Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Domestic battery, Tamper or Harassment depriving the use of 911
On March 19, 2016 at approximately 5:58 p.m. Officers of Marianna Police Department responded to Wilton Street in reference to the report of a physical disturbance. The anonymous caller advised he heard a female scream and observed the female running from a white male at the above residence. The caller advised a neighbor attempted to intervene and the white male later identified as John Paul Lipford picked a pipe and began chasing the neighbor around. Officers arrived at the residence and began their investigation, it was determined that Lipford got into a physical altercation with his girlfriend. Lipford grabbed his girlfriend by the hair and began pulling her by her hair. She responded by attempted to call law enforcement with her telephone however Lipford took her phone. The female was eventually able to get free and began running down the road when a concerned neighbor attempted to intervene. Lipford picked up a pipe and began swinging it at the neighbor. The neighbor was able to get the female into his house and contact law enforcement. Lipford was located a short time later and placed under arrest without incident. Lipford was transported to Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
