From Marianna Police Department
On April 23, 2016 at approximately 1316 hours, officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to Executive Inn in reference to a dispute. The manager of Executive Inn advised he had two tenants who failed to leave the room at the determined check-out time and were refusing to vacate the room. Officers made contact with two individuals at the room in question who were identified as Lisa Shelton and James Jeffcoat and advised the couple they had to leave the property at the manager’s request. Shelton and Jeffcoat began loading their belongings into their vehicle. While doing so officers observed Shelton drop multiple items including what was determined as drug paraphernalia on the pavement beside her vehicle. Shelton tried to quickly grab the items and put them in her vehicle as officers approached. Jeffcoat acknowledged that one of the items still lying on the pavement which was a marijuana grinder was his and he was subsequently detained. As Shelton exited the vehicle at an officer’s request and he observed her attempt to conceal a container on her person. The items dropped on the pavement were located in the floorboard of the vehicle several containers which contained small amounts of methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia. The container Shelton attempted to conceal on her person contained several grams of methamphetamine and other paraphernalia. Officer’s located several grams of marijuana inside the vehicle which Jeffcoat claimed ownership of. Additionally Shelton advised officers she had a glass pipe used to smoke marijuana concealed on her person which was recovered.
Both Shelton and Jeffcoat were transported to Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance on their respective charges.
Arrested: James S. Jeffcoat white male, 35 years of age
Charges: Possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana less than 20 grams, possession of paraphernalia
Arrested: Lisa D. Shelton, white female, 37 years of age
Charges: Possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia
