Fraud arrests

From Jackson County Sheriff’s Office

On June 17, 2016 Investigators with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received information from Manatee County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a victim from their county, credit card being fraudulently used at a local hotel in Jackson County, Florida. According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, their victim’s online credit card statement revealed that the suspect(s) had used her credit card at America’s Inn and Suites located at 2086 Hwy 71 Marianna, Florida and according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office the suspect(s) were still renting the hotel room.

Investigators with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the America’s Inn and Suites and learned the suspect(s) had been staying at the hotel since July 12th.  Investigators  also learned that  the  suspect(s)  had  made their  reservations  online  using two  different  credit  cards.  When investigators made contact with the subjects they were identified as Wayne Kennedy Neal, Jr., and Taquesha Deloris Owens, both of Tampa, Florida. After conducting  a consensual  search of their assigned hotel room, investigators discovered numerous pieces of papers with various  individuals’ names, credit card  information  and  their  personal  information  had  been written  down.  Investigators also found two pieces of paper which contained the victim from Manatee County name and credit card information. Upon conducting a search of the hotel room marijuana was found on the nightstand as well as several drug paraphernalia items.

Taquesha D. Owens and Wayne K. Neal, Jr., were taken into custody without incident and transported to Jackson Correctional Facility to await first appearance.

Arrestees: Taquesha D. Owens 21, Tampa, FL and Wayne K. Neal Jr. 33, Tampa, FL

Charges: criminal use of personal identification information possession of marijuana (less than 20 grams), possession of drug paraphernalia
