From Marianna Police Department
On January 23rd, 2016 at approximately 12:31 a.m., officers with the Marianna Police Department observed a vehicle traveling south on Jefferson Street at a high rate of speed. As the vehicle continued south, past the intersection of South Street, the vehicle entered a curve where the driver lost control. The driver, identified as Anna Franklin of Marianna, Florida, was unable to regain control of the vehicle. The vehicle then left the roadway, striking a large tree. The vehicle rotated counter clockwise where it struck a utility pole. After striking the utility pole, the vehicle came to final rest.
Franklin was not wearing her safety belt which resulted in her being ejected from the vehicle. Her medical condition is unknown at the time of this release. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash. This incident remains under investigation.
