On January 28, 2016 the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and the Jackson County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at the home of Jeffrey Jerome Edenfield located at 2754 Hwy 2, Campbellton, Florida. This search warrant was a result of an ongoing investigation in conjunction with Aging and Adult Services into a neglected elderly woman. The investigation revealed that the Angela Snow Hill, had failed to properly provide adequate care for her 79 year old mother.
On January 3, 2016 the victim was taken to Jackson Hospital by Hill after she came home and found the victim on the floor where she had been for approximately 14 hours. When Hill found the victim she was completely naked and was wet from soiling herself. Hill also noticed that the victim had insulation in her hair and on her body from her “clawing” at the insulation. Hill had originally stated she thought her mother had suffered a stroke. During the victim’s medical assessment it was discovered there were no indications of the victim having a stroke. Instead the attending physician discovered that the victim had numerous open bed sores that had ruptured, various rashes, ulcerations and abrasions, some of these may have caused the victim to likely obtain gangrene. Hill had advised medical staff that the victim was ambulatory a few weeks prior to being taken to the hospital, however, doctors at the hospital stated that due to the severity of the victim’s medical condition she apparently had not been ambulatory for quite some time.
Investigators learned that the victim had been residing at the above address in what her daughter referred to as a “cabin,” which is actually a 16’ x 12’ wooden shed. The shed contained exposed insulation and wiring and did not have any indoor plumbing.
Hill denied Aging and Adult Services access to the property at 2754 Hwy 2, for the purpose of checking the living arraignments of the victim. On January 28, 2016 an arrest warrant was obtained for Hill and a search warrant was obtained for the property at 2754 Hwy 2.
During the execution of the search warrant, Investigators discovered methamphetamine, q-tips and several glass pipes commonly used as a smoking device. Edenfield admitted that the drugs and paraphernalia belonged to him and stated that he also had a small caliber firearm inside the house that belonged to him which was also collected as evidence. A check of Edenfield’s criminal history confirmed that he was a seven time convicted felon.
Edenfield was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance. Hill was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant for Neglect of an Elderly Person by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office at her place of employment in Altha, FL. and transported to Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
Arrestee: Angie S. Hill (48 white female) charged with elderly abuse and Jeff J. Edenfield (52 white male) charged with possession of narcotics/felon in possession of a firearm.
