From Jackson County Sheriff Office
On April 18, 2016 approximately 11:00 pm a deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was traveling north on Caverns Rd. behind a truck. As the truck approached the Chipola River Bridge the deputy observed a gunshot from the truck.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop on Meadowview Rd near Club Dr. An investigation during the traffic stop revealed Bret Steven Crumpler had fired a handgun from the truck and had placed the handgun in his waist band. Also three small bags of marijuana were discovered on Crumpler’s person.
Bret Steven Crumpler was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, and possession of marijuana under 20 grams. Crumpler was placed into the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
