From Marianna Police Department
On 05/17/2016 at approximately 7:39 p.m. Officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to the intersection of Russ Street and Lafayette Street in reference to a traffic crash. Upon arrival Officers determined two vehicles were involved in the collision and one of the vehicles involved had overturned and had come to rest on its roof in the two east bound travel lanes. During the investigation, Officers were able to determine that the overturned vehicle was traveling south on Russ Street through a green traffic light at the intersection when the second vehicle involved ran the red light on Lafayette Street as it was westbound and struck the other vehicle causing it to overturn. All parties involved were transported to Jackson Hospital by Jackson County EMS to be treated for possible injuries sustained during the traffic crash.
